The client
Bucket & Spade.
With excellent connections, serious investment in its infrastructure and creative attributes, the last ten years has seen our hometown of Folkestone’s continued renaissance into being recognised as a destination to achieve that long-sought work/life balance. Bucket and Spade have featured prominently as part of this, being the holding group for celebrity chef Mark Sargeant’s first restaurant: Rocksalt.
The Project
Rocksalt restaurant & bar.
The award-winning striking building that sits in the harbour, designed by Guy Hollaway Architects, creates the perfect sea-view setting for this modern British culinary offering. Whilst a coastal restaurant with a definite local seafood flair, Mark was clear he wanted a brand that was strong, iconic and relevant to compliment the offering.
We Delivered
A local landmark.
As well as creating a simple but striking identity with a subtle nod to the town’s seaside location, we discovered a range of images shot from the original fish market on where the restaurant sits. Along with the use of some Victorian etchings, we reflected these throughout the venue’s collateral giving a historic and characteristic anchor to the town’s newest food destination.
