Uber-cool design studio Kit Grover was tasked with assembling a diverse group of artists to create a range of Christmas cards exclusively for Oxfam.
A Tricycle for Christmas by Sir Michael Craig-Martin
Kit Grover had worked with all of the artists on previous projects so they were able to provide them with an open but specific brief.
It’s That Time of Year Again by Bob and Roberta Smith
Some of the artists involved have created new work for the cards – Bob and Roberta Smith for example – while Raqib Shaw chose an existing painting “as I believe it captures the essence of Christmas – I will never forget the beautiful heavy snow weighing down the branches of pine trees in Kashmir.”
The Last Firefly Catcher by Raqib Shaw
Legendary Factory Records artist Peter Saville donated a gold-tinted version of his Unknown Pleasures sleeve artwork for Joy Division.
Unknown Pleasures Christmas Card by Peter Saville
All of the artists worked for free on the project. The cards will be available in Oxfam shops and the Oxfam Online Shop from 17 October and we can’t wait to get our hands on them.
